Business leaders, industry experts and investors from the West Midlands and Ohio are set to join forces to discuss trade opportunities.

Greater Birmingham Transatlantic Chamber of Commerce is set to welcome Alina Harastasanu (pictured), director of European Business Development at JobsOhio, the economic development agency for the U.S. state of Ohio, to a Transatlantic Growth Forum event on 11 June.

It takes place at the Council House in Victoria Square, Birmingham.

She will provide insights into the Midwestern state’s key industries including advanced manufacturing, chemicals, future mobility, aviation and aerospace, healthcare and medical technology and professional/financial services.

Ms Harastasanu will also explain the incentives and support available to those looking to expand, scale-up or establish a Stateside footprint.

Other guest panellists for the event include Vesko Petkov, partner and UK lead for automotive and manufacturing at accountants Mazars and a representative from foreign investment experts OCO Global, who will give an overview of the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the potential impact of upcoming elections and the challenges and opportunities for the US and UK markets with the slow but steady move towards electrification and sustainability.

Sian Timmins, head of international divisions at Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, of which the Transatlantic Chamber is part, said: “We look forward to bringing together senior business leaders, industry representatives and investors from across the Ohio and West Midlands regions to focus on the changing face of these industrial heartlands as they move forward in adopting innovation, new technologies and a more sustainable future.”
