Tributes paid following sudden death of Elonex chief executive
Tributes have been paid following the sudden death of Nick Smith, the chief executive of Birmingham-based Elonex.
During his time as CEO, Smith (pictured) oversaw Elonex’s development in the digital display and outdoor media sector, building on the company’s long-standing background in technology.
Elonex, which has been based in Birmingham for more than three decades, has evolved over time from its early work in consumer electronics into digital display and advertising.
The company paid tribute to Smith, describing him as “an extraordinary leader, a loyal friend, and an inspirational presence to everyone who had the privilege of working with him.”
They added: “His passion, integrity, and vision shaped our business and touched countless lives.
“Our thoughts are with Nick’s family, friends, and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.”
Raj Kandola, acting deputy CEO at Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: “Everyone at the Chamber is saddened to hear of Nick’s sudden passing.
“We have partnered with Elonex on several occasions for the annual GBCC Awards, and the brand is widely recognised and ever-present across the city – which is a testament to Nick’s leadership.
“Our sincerest condolences are with his family, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time.”
