Birmingham Children 's Hospital Charity is calling on the public to turn their rags to riches for sick kids by taking part in the 'Big Drop ' during Recycle Week, which runs from 19 to 25 September.

The initiative is simple encourages people to organise a bulk collection of unwanted, but good quality clothing, accessories, shoes, linen and bric-a-brac at schools, workplaces, places of worship or community centres, enabling them to be turned into cash, raising vital funds to support young patients.

Birmingham Children 's Hospital Charity has teamed up with clothing recycling partner Collection4Clothes, for the Big Drop, who will collect the donations and export any high-quality items to retailers throughout Europe, with the remaining items being recycled.

Miranda Williams, head of public fundraising at Birmingham Children 's Hospital Charity, said: “The purpose of Recycle Week is to get people thinking about how they could recycle more and a great incentive to do it, is if you know it 'll also be supporting the children at our hospital.

“We encourage the public to get together with their colleagues and friends in the community to host their own Big Drop.

“Our charity doesn 't have any shops on the high street, so this is a great way of donating your old belongings to us, safe in the knowledge that your old possessions will find new homes, whilst helping us to do more for sick kids and the planet! ”
