Two Future Faces members volunteered at the European Athletics Championships 2026 working as athletes’ stewards.
Daniella Campbell, chartered financial planner at Forvis Mazars, and Tom Randall, tax executive at Bishop Fleming, volunteered at Alexander Stadium for two days, helping competitors with their events.
Tom said: “I decided to volunteer at the European Athletics Championships because athletics has always been a sport that I enjoy and have always wanted to get an opportunity to meet the athletes up close!
“One of the most eye-opening aspects of the experience was discovering that so many of the officials and event staff were volunteers.
“I would strongly encourage other young professionals to consider volunteering opportunities like this.
“Not only is it a chance to support something meaningful, but it is also a great way to meet new people, build confidence, develop communication skills and experience events from a perspective that very few people get to see.”
Daniella Campbell said: “Being part of the volunteer team gave me a unique insight into what goes into delivering an event of this scale, and it was inspiring to see the dedication of everyone involved, from the athletes competing at the highest level through to the many volunteers working behind the scenes.
“One of the highlights for me was the atmosphere throughout the championships. There was a real sense of pride in Birmingham hosting another major sporting event, and it was fantastic to see people from so many different backgrounds coming together to support it.”
