The University is looking for up to four exceptional postdoctoral researchers to contribute to its innovative work in artificial intelligence.
The interdisciplinary positions will be offered across the University within its business school, The Sir Peter Rigby Digital Futures Institute and its School of Computer Science and Digital Technologies.

Based within the Aston-Capgemini Centre of Excellence for Enterprise AI the researcher will explore responsible artificial intelligence adoption, business transformation and governance.
Positions offered will cover topics such as AI within health, transport and the arts and design. Other areas of focus include agentic artificial intelligence which focuses on decisions as opposed to creating the actual new content, generative AI, and technology to detect misinformation/disinformation such as deepfakes.

“The new Aston AI Fellows will join a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment aligned with our Aston 2030 Strategy, contributing to cutting-edge developments in artificial intelligence.”
Professor Aniko Ekart, director of the Aston Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Application said: “We are co-creating AI solutions with stakeholders for pressing societal, health and environmental challenges, ensuring that our solutions are ethical, trustworthy and sustainable, for a good future with AI.”
Director of the Aston-Capgemini Centre of Excellence for Enterprise AI, Professor Alexeis Garcia Perez added: “Our unique partnership with Capgemini means our research doesn’t stay theoretical.
“We work directly with enterprise leaders to turn the potential of AI into tangible business value and societal impact.”
Applicants should hold a PhD in a subject aligned with the University’s AI research focus areas, have a strong research track record relative to their career stage and show potential for world-leading research. Each post is a three-year fixed-term position and will include the opportunity to develop teaching skills to support career development.
The deadline for applications is 17 November 2025.
