Vice president joins Birmingham delegation in New York
A delegation including Transatlantic Chamber vice-president Eileen Schofield spread the news that Birmingham is open for business during a visit to New York.
The civic visit to the Big Apple, led by Lord Mayor of Birmingham Cllr Maureen Cornish, took place over six days and included representatives from Birmingham City Council, University of Birmingham, the Transatlantic Chamber and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
A series of business meetings took place throughout the trip, which also coincided with a performance by the CBSO at Carnegie Hall.
Eileen Schofield said: “As part of the Lord Mayor 's civic delegation to New York on behalf of the Greater Birmingham Transatlantic Chamber of Commerce, the message we brought to New York is that Birmingham is definitely open for transatlantic trade.
“Entrepreneurs were very interested to hear about the pace of growth in Birmingham. The enthusiasm for details of the opportunities in all sectors was very encouraging.
“Relationships were created and reinforced with promises of greater engagement with GBTCC through the DiT and British American Business Network.
“The appreciation from key stakeholders and businesses in NYC for the civic delegation from Birmingham and the genuine respect for the Lord Mayor was palpable - not least as the Lord Mayor walked through the streets of New York proudly wearing her chains of office.
“There is plenty to build on following this delegation. Entrepreneurs in New York are looking to invest in the UK market and Birmingham is high on the list of strategic investment options. ”
