Trent & Dove Housing, in partnership with Burton Albion Community Trust, will be hosting a virtual Covid Hero Awards to celebrate those who have gone above and beyond to help others during the pandemic.

Historically Trent & Dove host their yearly Impact on the Community Awards, but were unable to last year due to the Government restrictions on large gatherings.

However this year housing firm has opted to instead, host a virtual awards event in recognition of Covid heroes.

The virtual event will take place on 26 March starting at 7.30pm and attendees will be invited to join for a night of celebrations to honour businesses, communities, individuals and charities who have helped others during the health crisis.

Attendees will also be encouraged to dress in their best attire and to send in photographs which will be shared on social media throughout the evening.

The Covid Hero finalists, who have been shortlisted for an award, will each receive a luxury hamper to thank them for their fantastic contributions. The lucky winners will have to wait though as they won 't be revealed until the night!

Ursula Bennion, chief executive of Trent & Dove Housing said: “It is a real shame that were unable to host our prestigious Impact on the Community Awards last year, however we want to ensure that we still celebrate those heroes in our communities who have gone out of their way to help others during the pandemic.

"This past year has been a very difficult time for most and we have already seen great examples of community spirit, care and passion amongst our residents and community groups.

"The Covid Hero awards will shine a spotlight on the selfless acts of kindness that may slip under the radar. These people and organisations truly deserve to be shown some recognition for their hard work. We are hoping to receive as many nominations as possible and can 't wait to hear more about what people have been doing to help their communities ”

Matt Hancock from Burton Albion Community Trust added: “We 're pleased to be able to support Trent & Dove, to deliver the Covid Hero Awards ”

The awards will be fantastic celebration, which will recognise the amazing efforts from people and groups from all corners of our community

We have seen first-hand the power of community and just what it can achieve, the difference it can make and the real power of people ”

Nominations are now open for people to vote for their Covid Hero and will close on Sunday, 7 February at midnight.
