Virtual Youth Proms return

The ELO hit Mr Blue Sky will be among the performances in Services For Education 's Virtual Youth Proms Festival that takes place on the small screen for four-days event from Monday.

The event runs from Monday 5 July to Thursday 8 July and features more than 1,500 Birmingham school children.

Services For Education 's Virtual Youth Proms Festival 2021 features a whole raft of music with a cast of young talented musicians and singers from Birmingham schools and the wider community.

Four online evening concerts from Services For Education 's Central and Area Ensembles and a Virtual Choir will also take place.

Supported by Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, Arts Council England, Normans Musical Instruments, Soundabout and MAC, the series of four concerts are all free with voluntary donations accepted.

Each live concert is individually themed. The schedule is as follows:

Monday 5 July, 6pm - 7pm: Blue Sky with Festival including Birmingham 's own Mr Blue Sky, originally performed by Electric Light Orchestra and released in 1977.

Tuesday 6 July, 6pm - 7pm: The Rainbow Connection featuring The Rainbow Project with Services For Education 's Virtual Choir.

Wednesday 7 July, 6pm - 7pm: Faith with the Concert Orchestra.

Thursday 8 July, 6pm - 7pm: How far we 'll go from the latest Disney hit movie Moana with the Birmingham Schools ' Training Wind Orchestra.

Registration for the live streaming from 6pm each evening is available here.

It is hoped that many will donate the normal ticket price - £12 - to the charity to enable it to continue its work with Birmingham schools. Donations can also be made here.

Services For Education Virtual Youth Proms Festival 2021 are being delivered by Services For Education - the education and training charity based in Birmingham.

Services For Education 's Music Service works with more than 380 Birmingham schools, teaching music to approximately 38,000 children, weekly. It also provides 28,000 musical instruments free-of-charge.
