War in Ukraine: What happened this week?

Russia 's invasion of Ukraine has entered its fourth week.

The UK has rolled out its Homes for Ukraine scheme to help Ukrainian refugees, while the government also placed more sanctions on high-ranked Russians.

Friday 11 March

The UK Government sanctions 386 members of the Duma, the lower house of the Russian Parliament, who support Putin 's invasion of Ukraine. The sanctions will ban those listed from travelling to the UK, accessing assets held within the UK and doing business here. The sanctions bring the total number of Duma members sanctioned by the UK to 400.

Sunday 13 March

The UK Government reveals that more than 3,000 visas have been issued under the Ukraine Family Scheme, which enables relative of British nationals, UK settled persons and some others to apply to come to the UK.

Monday 14 March

The UK Government announces its Homes for Ukraine scheme, through which those living in the UK can offer to house Ukrainians refugees for a period of at least six months.

Tuesday 15 March

The UK Government announces a ban on exports to Russia of high-end luxury goods, while also introducing new import tariffs on hundreds of key products.

370 more Russian and Belarusian individuals and entities, bringing the UK in line with restrictive measures already announced by the EU.

Wednesday 16 March

Peace talks between Russia and Ukraine continue, with President Zelenskyy sharing that Russia 's demands were becoming 'more realistic ' and that 'efforts are still needed '.

Thursday 17 March

The UK Government announces it will deploy the Sky Sabre missile system in Poland, along with 100 troops.
