The Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the Lichfield & Tamworth Chamber of Commerce took place at the end of last month, welcoming new members, reflecting on the previous year and preparing for a prosperous year ahead.

On the order of events was the introduction of the Chamber's new committee members, Steve Shields (Pure Cloud Solutions) and Kym Darby (Legionella and Fire Safety), as well as new vice president Fiona Rouse.

Henrietta Brealey, chief executive of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, also joined the meeting to discuss local issues around the next generation and schools engagement with Julie Poppleton, Stephen Sutton Academy, as well as international trade support with Fiona Rouse, PI-KEM.

The meeting also heard from Jonathan Percival and Matthew Fletcher from Lichfield District and Tamworth Borough Council about their exciting plans for development and business support into 2022.

Jason Challoner (pictured), current president, spoke at length with Henrietta about his experiences up to the second year of his presidency and the feedback and support received from Chamber members.

Jason Challoner said: "There is undoubtedly more rocky times to come for business as we emerge from the pandemic but 2022 I 'm sure will be a positive year for business. I 'm looking forward to working with our committee, members, the Chamber team and continuing to promote and campaign on three key areas - business support, young people and the environment - encouraging the business community across Lichfield and Tamworth to engage and support those areas with our local partners and organisations."

Chris Brewerton, Chamber director, also highlighted key stats on Chamber engagement and member activity.

Chris said: "It 's been a challenging year throughout but I want to place on record my huge appreciation to all of our members, our venues who have hosted events with us recently, so many members of the Greater Birmingham Chamber 's team and the business community as a whole across Lichfield and Tamworth for their help and support over the last 12 months.

"A special mention to our executive committee, Vice President 's, and our President who have been a huge help in working together to promote opportunities throughout the organisation for businesses and have been great role models and advocates for a wide range of campaigns."
