WATCH: Sutton Coldfield Youth Council talk business
Sutton Coldfield Chamber of Commerce members have been sharing their experiences with future generations in a series of webinars.
The Sutton Coldfield Youth Council - the brainchild of Birmingham city councillor for Wylde Green Cllr Alex Yip (pictured) - was set up in 2017 and has now joined forces with the Sutton Chamber 's 'next generation ' sub committee.
It is a joint project supported by Gary Phelps Communications and Sutton Coldfield schools and colleges.
Eighteen council members were selected from Years 12 and 13 at several schools.
Young professionals from Sutton Chamber members Burley Browne, 3D Facilities Support and WAA Chosen shared their experiences with members of the Youth Council in three webinars.
WAA Chosen 's HR manager Faith Jackson-Garbett talked about CV writing and the agency 's youngest employee Benjamin Sachs shared his experiences of doing an IT apprenticeship.
Chartered surveyors, Faryal Sheikh, Ben Nicholson and Steve Hannaford from Burley Browne discussed their career journeys in a second webinar.
Brother and sister Helena and Phil Davis of 3D Facilities Support shared their experiences of working for a successful family business in marketing and operations respectively.
Cllr Yip, who is also a committee member of the Sutton Chamber, said: “I am immensely grateful for the support of the Chamber and members for giving such invaluable support to students especially during this pandemic.
“It is clear the students who attended really benefited from real life experiences of members and the recordings will go on to reach many more. ”
