Significant changes to VAT rules post-Brexit will be explored in a webinar hosted by Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce next week.

Hosted by the Chamber in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority, the webinar will offer businesses the chance to find out more about the new VAT reporting requirements and the practical steps they will need to take in order to comply with these changes

The EU 2021 e-commerce VAT package comes into effect in July and has been designed to simplify VAT rules on the cross-border sales of goods and services to consumers in EU member states.

Guest speaker for the event on Thursday 22 April is RSM partner Peter Williams.

Peter advises corporate clients on all aspects of their VAT affairs and has extensive experience in the retail, manufacturing and leisure and hospitality sectors

He predominately works with large privately-owned and listed businesses, with vast experience in the consumer markets space where he has worked with some of the biggest retailers in the UK.

Raj Kandola (pictured), head of policy at Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: “Significant changes to VAT rules are on the horizon and I would urge local businesses that are trading goods and offering services to customers in the European Union to join us for this important webinar.

“Given his extensive experience in working with e-commerce firms, we are delighted to be joined by Peter Williams to discuss the upcoming VAT changes and what this will mean for businesses on a practical level.

“The webinar will also offer local businesses the chance to ask specific questions on the technical aspects of the new rules and is free to attend. ”
