Sutton Coldfield-based office planning and design consultancy X2 Furniture Ltd has launched a new website dedicated to helping employees work comfortably and safely from home.

It comes after an increase in the number of people working from home during the pandemic.

After the Covid-19 outbreak took hold in the UK last March, X2 Furniture produced a number of blogs and guides, offering advice and guidance to employers and employees.

It has now gone a step further with the launch of the new website dedicated to home workers at www.home-workers.co.uk.

The site provides blogs and guides to assist employers and home workers work comfortably and safely, as well as offering a range of ergonomic desks, chairs and accessories, to help home workers adopt the correct postural position and break the sedentary nature of working from home.

Director Clive Poole (pictured) said: “Musculoskeletal disorders cost UK businesses a staggering £5.2 billion a year.

“Poor posture and decreased movement contribute greatly to complaints of the back, shoulders, wrists, neck etc, as well as impacting on mental health and wellbeing.

“Employers have the same health and safety responsibilities for home workers as for any other office-based worker, yet many employees are still working from the kitchen table or corner of the living room.

“They are spending an increased amount of time sat in front of their screen, which is often positioned at the incorrect height.

“No one really knows how long this pandemic will last, and even when it ends, there are reports that many employees will continue to work from home.

“We owe it to ourselves and our employees to ensure that everyone is working comfortably and safely. ”

As well as offering guidance and advice, the site includes a range of sit-stand desks, which have been proven to improve posture and movement.

Clive said: “The use of sit-stand desks has been scientifically proven to improve productivity, concentration and increase creativity.

“The reason for this, is whilst you are standing up, some of the body 's largest muscles are working, so this increases blood flow to the brain.

“Therefore, standing improves the way we feel and improves the way we work. It has also been found that sit-stand desks have the ability to increase productivity from up to 10 to 20% per cent. ”
