West Midlands firm invited to uncover sustainable commercial opportunities with free expert support
Businesses across the West Midlands are being invited to access free expert support to help reduce waste, lower operating costs and uncover new commercial opportunities through the West Midlands Resource Reuse Network (WMRRN).
Delivered by International Synergies in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), WMRRN helps businesses of all sizes and sectors identify opportunities to reuse surplus materials, by-products, underused equipment and other resources that might otherwise become waste.
By connecting organisations with complementary resource needs, the project keeps valuable materials in circulation, helping businesses reduce costs while supporting economic growth and the transition to a more circular economy.
Resource matching can take many forms. A manufacturer with surplus packaging, a construction company with excess building materials or a business with unused pallets may have resources that could provide value to another local organisation instead of being discarded.
WMRRN helps identify these opportunities, facilitating practical business connections that benefit both the economy and the environment.
The fully-funded support is available to organisations across the West Midlands, with experienced practitioners working directly with businesses to identify opportunities tailored to their operations.
A WMCA statement said: “The West Midlands Resource Reuse Network is demonstrating how circular economy approaches can deliver real benefits for businesses and communities across our region.
“By engaging hundreds of businesses and identifying practical opportunities to reuse valuable resources, the Network has diverted thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions whilst also improving regional economic resilience.
“This work directly supports the ambitions of the West Midlands Growth Plan, showing how innovation and collaboration can drive sustainable economic growth while reducing waste.”
By participating in the project, businesses can reduce disposal costs, improve resource efficiency, develop new supply chain relationships and find productive uses for materials that may previously have been discarded.
The project also supports organisations looking to strengthen their sustainability credentials and contribute to a more resource-efficient regional economy.
The team is encouraging businesses from every sector, including manufacturing, construction, logistics, food and drink, retail and waste reprocessing services, to register their interest.
Whether an organisation generates surplus materials, has underutilised resources or is simply looking for more sustainable ways of operating, the project offers practical, expert support at no cost.
Businesses interested in exploring how resource matching could benefit their organisation are encouraged to register their interest by visiting the West Midlands Resource Reuse Network webpage on the International Synergies website or emailing wmrrn@international-synergies.com.
