Wholesale market backs Armed Forces
Birmingham Wholesale Market has joined over 1,000 Midlands based businesses in signing the Armed Forces Covenant.
The covenant demonstrates their support for the Armed forces Community which includes regular serving personnel, veterans, reserves, cadet force adult volunteers and their families.
The covenant was signed by Lt Col Charlie Whitting, the Commanding Officer of 4th Battalion The Mercian Regiment on behalf of the Ministry of Defence cementing the Birmingham wholesale Market Partnering with Defence at a signing ceremony at their offices in Birmingham.
Keith Simpson, chair of the Company that manages the Birmingham Wholesale Market said: “I was honoured to be asked to sign the Armed Forces Covenant on behalf of the Market.
“We now join with the many organisations that are committed to working with Graham Whitehouse and his team in supporting their efforts that ensure that the Armed Forces Community are treated fairly in the provision of public and commercial services.
“We are proud of our association with the Covenant and plan to play an active role in supporting them to achieve their goals and will be informing our network of the benefits of joining with us.
General manager at the market Andrew Barnes said: “We will be looking to make sure that we make full use of our membership and that we encourage our tenants, contractors and suppliers to support the Armed Forces Community.
“We have already introduced one of these in Safety For Group Ltd who act as our health and safety consultants.”
