WMG Academy launches new T level in digital software development
WMG Academy for Young Engineers has announced an ambitious addition to its curriculum for the next academic year: the T Level in Digital Software Development
Designed in collaboration with industry leaders, this cutting-edge qualification offers students a direct pathway into the UK’s booming tech sector, with a unique specialist focus on Games Innovation.
From day one, students will immerse themselves in the digital landscape, mastering high-demand skills in cyber security, data analysis, and software architecture.
The new initiative is a hands-on approach to games development. Students won't just study games; they will build them designing characters, coding gameplay mechanics, and testing user experiences using industry-standard tools.
Speaking about the new course, associate principal Claire Morris, said: "We are thrilled to launch the T Level in Digital Software Development.
"This course gives students the technical skills and creative freedom to bring their own digital projects to life. By bridging the gap between the classroom and the studio, we are preparing our learners for high-stakes careers in one of the UK’s fastest-growing industries."
The program is built on "real-world" simulation. Students will work in collaborative teams stepping into roles as designers, developers, and testers to respond to live-style industry briefs.
To ensure they are career-ready, every student will complete a minimum of 45 days in a professional industry placement, providing them with invaluable experience and a competitive edge in the job market.
