WMG Academy Solihull records best-ever Key Stage 5 results

WMG Academy Solihull has recorded its best-ever Key Stage 5 results, with students achieving strong outcomes across A levels, vocational and technical qualifications.

Average grades in Maths, Physics and Computer Science each rose by a full grade compared with last year, while the overall value-added measure across A level subjects improved by more than half a grade on average.

This summer also saw the Academy's first cohort complete A level Electronics, alongside its largest-ever Further Maths cohort, with every student achieving grade B or above.

The Academy's first cohort of T Level Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing and Control students achieved a 100 per cent pass rate, with most gaining a Merit or Distinction.

Other results included over a third of students achieving a top grade of Distinction*, A* or A; 100 per cent A*-B in A level Further Maths; 40 per cent A*-B in A level Maths; 55 per cent Distinction and above in BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Engineering (Double); 55 per cent Distinction and above in BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Engineering (Single); and 67% A*-C in A level Physics, with a 100 per cent pass rate overall.

WMG Academy chief executive Stewart Tait said: "I am delighted that students at the WMG Academies have had their commitment and endeavours rewarded with impressive examination results that will allow them to progress to the next stage of their journey, be that university, apprenticeships or direct employment.

"Whilst it is always pleasing to report year on year improvements in results, this year has seen a significant increase in the highest grades gained in both A levels and technical qualifications at Distinction* and Distinction. In our areas of specialism, the average student grade was a Distinction-.

"We are particularly pleased with our first cohort of T Level Engineering students who all passed, with the majority securing the highest grades of Merit or Distinction."
