Work is to officially begin on the Old Brewery Quarter, a landmark regeneration project set to transform Burton upon Trent’s High Street.

Following planning approval last Autumn, Seddon Construction has been appointed to deliver the first phase of works, preparing the site which will revitalise historic buildings, celebrate the town’s world-renowned brewing heritage and provide new cultural, leisure and educational opportunities for residents and visitors.

These initial works, due to commence in the spring includes the demolition of Trent House, Carling House Data Centre and the adjacent workshop, along with the installation of vital services required in future phases.

This milestone follows the completion of the Washlands and Garden of Remembrance enhancements, which opened up the riverside with accessible trails, play areas, and wildlife habitats, creating a welcoming space for the whole community.

Cllr Louise Walker, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “The start of work on the Old Brewery Quarter is a real milestone for Burton.

“This project will protect our heritage, bring the High Street to life and provide spaces and opportunities for everyone in the community to enjoy. I’m excited to see these plans taking shape on the ground this spring.”

The Old Brewery Quarter forms a central part of Burton’s wider regeneration programme, linking historic sites with new public spaces and community-focused projects.
