Works to resurface Penkridge road planned
Works to improve and resurface a main Penkridge road will start at the end of the month.
The resurfacing works on the A449 Stafford Road in the town are being carried out by Staffordshire County Council 's highways team.
The work between Levedale Road and Swan Lane will start on 31 August and is expected to take eight nights to complete.
To ensure the works can be carried out safely, a series of overnight week-day road closures from 8pm to 5am are required, starting on 31 August.
The road will reopen at 5am on 10 September.
A signed diversion route will be in place via the A5, A4601, A34 and the A449 for traffic in both directions.
Access to properties within the closure limits will be available.
David Williams, cabinet member for highways and transport at Staffordshire County Council, said: “Good roads are key to helping keep the county safely on the move and essential for our local economy to grow.
"This is an important scheme for the area and I 'm sure people will notice a real difference when the work is done.
“With resurfacing work such as this, there will inevitably be some disruption as a result of the temporary overnight road closures, but every effort has been made to limit this and that is why we are doing the work at night time.
"I would like to thank people in advance for their co-operation while the work is being carried out. ”
