World Mental Health Day event to promote awareness and wellbeing
In honour of World Mental Health Day, Lichfield venue The Hub at St Mary’s is bringing together local mental health organisations and the wider public for a morning of connection, awareness and wellbeing.
Headspace at The Hub is free to attend, open to all and welcomes anyone with an interest in mental health — whether they’re seeking support, offering support, or want to be part of a more open, compassionate community.
It takes place on Friday 10 October (10am to midday).
During the morning there will be pop-ups from Pathway Project – a Staffordshire based domestic abuse organisation, Andys Man Club – a men's suicide prevention charity, Burton and District Mind – a mental health charity, and Staffordshire Network for Mental Health – a local charity which supports people's mental health and wellbeing.
Hayley Gilliam, community engagement officer at The Hub, said: “The idea started when the Staffordshire Network for Mental Health approached us with a request to put on a special Chatty Corner in honour of World Mental Health Day.
“We decided it was a great opportunity to arrange an event to spotlight local services, reduce stigma and provide a welcoming space for open conversations about mental health and emotional wellbeing.”
There will also be a Chatty Corner, which is a community group that has been set up at The Hub by Staffordshire Network for Mental Health.
It normally runs from 10.30am every Wednesday morning in the coffee shop and is a space for people to come and connect with others to improve their mental wellness.
The Hub will also provide a mindfulness station, where people can take part in some mindfulness activities.
