YMCA Burton’s inaugural charity golf day hailed a success
Businesses in Burton has hailed YMCA Burton’s inaugural charity golf day as a success, after raising vital funds for the charity.
It was recently held at Branston Golf & Country Club where participants enjoyed breakfast before heading out for a round of golf, followed by a meal and awards.
Prizes were given to on-course challenge winners and to the first-place team Cadent and runner-up PKF Smith Cooper.
During the presentation ceremony, Paula Senior, YMCA Burton fundraising and partnerships manager, spoke to attendees about the current pressures within the charity sector and within the services we provide.
Paula said: “As we reflect on our first Charity Golf Day, we would like to thank everyone who joined us and helped make the event such a success.
“It was a fantastic day bringing together golfers, supporters, businesses and members of the community at the Branston Golf & Country Club.
“The event provided an invaluable opportunity for building and strengthening relationships, helping raise awareness and vital funds for the work we do at YMCA Burton.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support and look forward to building on the success of this year's event in the future, with 2027’s Golf Day already being booked!”
Ian Blundell, technical engineer with Cadent Gas and who was on the winning team, said: “What a fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable day, with a great atmosphere from start to finish.
“The event was extremely well organised, and it was a privilege to support YMCA Burton and learn more about the amazing work they do within the community.”
Chris Else, partner solicitor at Nelsons and long-time advocate of YMCA Burton, added: “I supported YMCA Burton for many years when I ran Else Solicitors in Burton upon Trent and continue to support now that I am working with Nelsons Solicitors, because I think it is wrong that anyone should be forced to sleep on the streets and become homeless.
“It is something that should not happen in a civilised society.”
Bookings are now open for next year’s Golf Day. Contact fundraising@burtonYMCA.org for more details and to register interest.
