YMCA Burton strengthens local communities through long-standing partnership
YMCA Burton and South Derbyshire CVS are highlighting the strength of their long-standing partnership and the impact they continue to make across East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire.
For many years, the two charities have worked closely together, bringing their knowledge, experience and community connections together to support local communities.
Their collaborative approach helps individuals and families access both immediate crisis support and longer-term assistance, with both organisations playing a significant role in supporting thousands of people across the district each year.
Behind every emergency food parcel is someone who may also be facing debt, rising living costs, housing worries, benefit delays or changes in employment.
The support provided through the partnership goes beyond the foodbank, with people able to access wider advice, referrals and signposting where appropriate.
The foodbank remains an important part of this work, providing vital support to people facing immediate financial difficulty.
Last year, YMCA Burton provided more than 3,000 emergency food parcels, which is equivalent to 75,000+ food items and approximately 27,000 meals. This helped to support over 4,000 people, with over 750 of whom being under the age of 18.
South Derbyshire CVS issued 1,129 emergency food parcels, including 481 family parcels and 648 single person parcels.
Together, the Charities supported more than 6,200 people across East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire in 2025.

“I was pleased to serve as a Trustee of South Derbyshire CVS for over ten years, which allowed me to see first-hand the impact of their wonderful work.
“Our partnership is built on regular communication, joint planning and a shared commitment to helping people when they need us most.
“Together, we work to ensure people can access both emergency support and the wider services available across our communities.
“Our partnership demonstrates what can be achieved when charities work closely together. By sharing knowledge, coordinating our efforts and focusing on the needs of local people, we can make a greater impact across East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire.”
