YMCA Burton to host annual sleepout
Local charity YMCA Burton are holding their annual fundraiser 'The Sleepout' and have announced that tickets are now on sale.
Sleepout is a chance to spend the night sleeping outdoors to fundraise for the YMCA who operate homeless outreach facilities, housing, foodbank and mediation in the East Staffordshire Borough area.
The Sleepout will take place on Friday, 10 November and is being held in its usual venues of Burton Albion's Pirelli Stadium and St Modwens graveyard.
In over 15 years of holding this annual fundraiser, the Sleepout has raised over £400,000 to support its services over the years which was originally held at the old Burton Rugby club in the town centre.
YMCA Burton is hoping for a record-breaking year, according to fundraising and partnerships manager Paula Senior.
She said: “We are so excited to be holding our Sleepout on 10 November this year and this time we understand that every one is feeling the pinch due to the cost of living crisis so we appreciate anyone who can support us and take part this year.
“It is always such a good night where we come together and support our charity and by the end of it, every one tells us how they feel humbled by sleeping outside but it in safe surroundings.”
