Carers Trust Solihull say they are dedicated in helping carers within their immediate community, partly through their Peer Mentoring and Befriending project.

The Peer Mentoring and Befriending project is reportedly known to be incredibly beneficial for young carers, providing them with the emotional support and understanding they may need. Carers Trust Solihull say they have secured funding from Triangle 1949 Fund to deliver this project for the next two years.

By focusing on aspects such as emotional support, social interaction, and addressing difficulties that they may face in their school setting, Carers Trust Solihull are taking a comprehensive approach to ensuring the well-being of their young carers. They say they have found that this holistic support can make a significant difference in their lives.

Carers Trust Solihull are aiming to support as many active young carers within the next two years to show their commitment in making a meaningful impact. Helping their young carers understand how to take pride in their role as young carers can boost their self-esteem and empower them in their caregiving responsibilities and daily lives.

Overall, the efforts through the Peer Mentoring and Befriending project demonstrates their genuine dedication to the welfare and development of the young carers in their community.

Rommelyn Jones, Peer Mentoring and Befriending Project co-ordinator, said: “I am looking to recruit adult volunteers known as Befrienders to help facilitate our mentoring sessions.  If you have the availability and commitment to support the young carers in our community, please do not hesitate to contact [email protected].”
