Young chef receives Royal Academy award
Chapter restaurant 's young chef Amrita Phull has been awarded the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts 'Award of Excellence - Kitchen '.
The RACA is the leading professional membership of chefs and front of house professionals and it advances cookery, food provenance and service education.
Rita has done incredibly well to have passed this demanding skills based examination, especially on her first attempt. The exam tests the individual 's level of skill and excellence demanded by 12 eminent judges on the day.
Having sailed through her semi-final conducted at University College Birmingham in April, Rita travelled down on June 7 to University of West London for the final. She participated in the five hour exam which tested 13 finalists on imagination and skills in producing three courses for the eminent judges.
Chef director Ben Ternent said “We are absolutely delighted with Rita 's result. She is a talented young chef who keeps her cool and has demonstrated her grasp of skills and flair at this demanding final. Born and bred in Birmingham and trained at UCB, Rita is well and truly flying the flag for our city. We are very proud of her. ”
Rita was one of only seven who were awarded 'AAE- Kitchen ' for 2023 from dozens of UK chefs who entered the competition.
She will attend a Gala Dinner at Claridge 's on 31 July.
