A Birmingham courier service that operates a fleet of zero-emission electric vehicles has successfully achieved meeting the ISO 9001:2105 standards for the third year in a row.

Since choosing to follow this quality standard in 2019 and establish best business practice to follow internally, WEGO Couriers has doubled in size.

WEGO Couriers also utilises cycle couriers to carry out routine and urgent deliveries in and around Birmingham and other cities in the UK.

In 2010, WEGO decided to develop a medical logistic service in conjunction with InterCity RailFreight which offers a high-speed delivery service between major cities in the UK that is environmentally friendly.

Since then, the service has expanded to cover many regions of the UK including the Greater Birmingham area.

Company director, Chris Beattie, said: “Over last 18 months we have seen a dramatic increase for our medical logistic service and having the strong foundations of the ISO standard to follow has certainly assisted our team to manage the company 's growth.

“We established our service in the heart of Birmingham in 2019 so that we can be close to our customers.

“Currently, we mainly deal with the movement of medical samples and urgent blood transfusion consignments between hospitals and clinics.

“With the forthcoming sporting spectacle of the Commonwealth Games in 2022 and the urgent need for Birmingham to embrace transport solutions that improve the air quality, we are looking forward to developing our zero-emission delivery service around the needs of the local business community. ”
