Certificates of Origin (also known as a Declaration of Origin) are international trade documents that show the origin of exported goods. They are completed by exporters and are certified by a Chamber of Commerce.
When dealing with certain areas of the world it is often a requirement to get your documents legalised by the relevant Embassies or endorsed by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
EUR1 documents are used to obtain preferential duty rates for those countries the UK has a trade agreement with. In order to claim preference goods must meet a set of origin rules that will be laid out in each individual trade agreement.
An International Import Certificates (IIC) is an end use assurance. If a company or individual in the United Kingdom is intending to import controlled goods from another COCOM (Co-Coordinating Committee on Multilateral Export Controls) member country it is the norm to apply for an International Import certificate at the request of the Licensing Authority of the country of export.
