B:Music is delighted to invite members to Town Hall, for an insight into the extraordinary musical, social and political history of Birmingham’s oldest events venue. Built in 1834, Town Hall is one of the city’s more recognizable landmarks but much of its hugely important and unique heritage is still unknown, even within its home city.
Following the successful completion earlier this year of the ambitious ‘Amplify Town Hall’ project in partnership with Birmingham Music Archive, this event will offer attendees the chance to enjoy a backstage tour and a private view of the extensive new heritage installation throughout the venue’s lower floor. There are incredible stories to uncover, such as the fact that Charles Dickens himself gave first ever reading of ‘A Christmas Carol’ at Town Hall in 1853, it hosted the first ever International Women’s Day Celebration and staged some of the earliest performances by newly formed Black Sabbath.
Attendees will also have the chance to learn more about BMusic’s programme and opportunities to host their own events at the iconic Town Hall and Symphony Hall.
Please note places are limited to two per company, and will be strictly allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
