A family-led business renowned for its picturesque waterfront venue and hospitality offerings, is entering an exciting new phase of growth after securing a £2.75 million funding package from Lloyds.

This investment will support the development of sustainable infrastructure, including a state-of-the-art solar energy project, reinforcing the marina's commitment to environmental responsibility and operational excellence.

Founded in 2008, Aston Marina has transformed from a rural landscape consisting of open fields and a canal into a thriving hospitality and leisure destination. Initially launched with a farm shop, bistro, and mooring facilities, the business has grown to include an exclusive wedding and events venue, a high-end restaurant, and, most recently, the Hideaway, a luxury private dining space.

Responding to increasing demand for accommodation, the company is expanding by introducing luxury wide-beam boats for on-water stays.

The initiative, years in the making, has recently received unanimous approval from the local council and is set for completion by early summer.

Unlike conventional solar farms, Aston Marina's approach involves embedding solar panels within the landscape to preserve the natural aesthetics of the site.

Reflecting this commitment to the environment, a landscaping and planting scheme is projected to boost the site’s biodiversity by over 55 per cent within three years of completion.

Aston Marina's recent partnership with Lloyds marks a new chapter in its expansion journey.

The seven-figure funding package, provided through a building transition loan, is instrumental in driving the company’s growth ambitions, supporting infrastructure improvements, and enhancing the overall customer experience.

With an annual visitor base in the thousands, Aston Marina is a vital part of the local economy, currently employing 91 staff, with numbers rising significantly during peak seasons.

The latest investments ensure that the business can continue to provide exceptional services while minimising its environmental impact.

Neil Nicholls, operations director at Aston Marina, explained: “Our goal has always been to operate as sustainably as possible. The solar farm is not a commercial venture; rather, it is designed to power our operations, reducing our reliance on external energy sources and reinforcing our commitment to environmental stewardship.”

Andy Matthews, relationship director at Lloyds, said: “Aston Marina exemplifies the kind of innovative and forward-thinking business we are proud to support.

“Their dedication to sustainability and commitment to growth align with our values, and we look forward to seeing them thrive in the years to come.”
