Burton families invited to free workshops at Brewhouse

Families across East Staffordshire are being encouraged to get creative this summer as the Brewhouse Arts Centre joins this year's Staffordshire Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme.

Eligible children and young people can enjoy a packed programme of free arts activities, with every session including a healthy meal.

The Brewhouse is one of several venues across Staffordshire taking part in the county-wide HAF programme, funded by the Department for Education and coordinated by Staffordshire County Council. The programme is available to children and young people aged 5 to 16 who receive benefit-related free school meals.

This summer's programme at the Brewhouse includes puppet-making, dance workshops inspired by a Cosmic Quest, nature-based printmaking, creating original plays with youth arts charity RicNic, designing DIY zines and learning drawing and painting techniques before showcasing artwork in a pop-up exhibition.

Led by experienced creative practitioners, the sessions encourage young people to explore new ideas, develop creative skills, build confidence, and enjoy a fun, welcoming environment.

Councillor Paul Walker, Cabinet Member for Tourism and Cultural Development at East Staffordshire Borough Council, said: "We know the positive difference that creative activities can make to young people's confidence, wellbeing and development.

“These workshops give children and young people the chance to try something new, discover their creativity, make friends, and have fun over the summer holidays.

“Every session also includes a healthy meal, a brilliant way to support eligible families while giving young people memorable experiences they'll really enjoy."
