Burton upon Trent is stepping confidently into the future with the launch of a new identity that unites the town’s proud heritage, major regeneration projects and thriving cultural scene.

The identity is the result of a collaborative effort by a wide range of local stakeholders; all working together to promote and celebrate Burton upon Trent.

A new Place Steering Group – made up of local key organisations and representatives from across the town – has been established to guide its development and ensure it reflects the community it serves.

The new identity will be unveiled during Sonic Boom Festival on Saturday, 13 September through a specially commissioned film, Burton upon Trent: Upon It All, which will be shown throughout the day.

The film follows members of the community and showcases how dynamic Burton is as a place.

It will give residents, visitors and media a first look at Burton’s evolving story – a story of people, place and progress.

Burton is already undergoing an exciting transformation through the regeneration of the High Street, which began with the enhancement of the Washlands as the first stage of the project.

This phase focuses on regenerating the riverside and reconnecting the town centre with its natural landscape.

The Washlands enhancements include wildlife-friendly planting, natural play areas, boardwalks, and nature trails, along with flood-adaptive features, and are now open for the public to enjoy.

Future developments on the High Street site include a Washlands Visitor Centre, developed with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust; a new events space; and the restoration and reimagining of heritage sites, including Bass House and the Water Tower, into attractions—all positioned in the heart of the town.

Cllr Paul Walker, Cabinet Member for Tourism and Cultural Development, said: “Burton is a town with an extraordinary past and a bright future.

“We’ve worked with a wide range of stakeholders and communities to develop a new identity captures the spirit of our people, our heritage and the changes happening across the town.

“From our restored riverside and historic brewery landmarks to new cultural and visitor spaces, Burton is being rejuvenated, and this is our chance to share that story.”
