The Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce has launched a new Local Elections Hub, designed to help businesses across the region stay informed and engaged ahead of the forthcoming local elections on Thursday 7 May.

Elections will be held for seats on Tamworth Borough Council, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, Cannock Chase District Council, Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council, as well as an “all-out” election on Birmingham City Council, meaning that all seats are up for election.

The hub brings together a range of impartial information, analysis and resources in one accessible place, supporting firms to understand the local political landscape.

It forms part of the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to representing the voice of business and strengthening engagement between employers and decision‑makers at every level.

Through the hub, businesses can access timely insights on local elections, alongside wider policy content developed by the Chamber’s policy and insight teams.

It will be updated throughout the election period, ensuring members and stakeholders have access to relevant and reliable information as the campaign progresses.

The final day to register for voting is Monday, 20 April and the hub also contains information on this.

The Local Elections Hub sits within the Chamber’s wider campaigns and insights activity, which aims to inform, influence and support businesses across Greater Birmingham on key political and economic developments.

Businesses are encouraged to explore the hub and use it as a tool to support understanding, engagement and informed decision‑making ahead of polling day.

GBCC senior policy advisor Ruth Fleet said: “Local elections impact businesses because of the range of responsibilities that councillors have, impacting areas such as waste collection, planning applications and community and neighbourhood planning.

“The GBCC is keen to use this opportunity to increase engagement between businesses and the new councillors, ensuring that they understand the essential role that businesses play in the success of a community.”
