Game4TheChildren match to take place in Birmingham
Legends from the world of football, sport, music and entertainment will take to the pitch at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park for Game4theChildren on Saturday 11 October.
The charity football match will shine a light on the plight of child homelessness both regionally and nationally, raising vital funds for Shelter and the Birmingham City Foundation.
Legends Soccer will deliver this special fixture at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park, which will kick-off at 5pm.
Four-time Champions League winner and football icon Clarence Seedorf will captain one of the two teams, with the second superstar to be announced in the coming days.
Dutch maestro Seedorf will be joined by a host of top names in his squad including Louis Saha, Mark Noble, Gael Clichy, Jens Lehmann, Joleon Lescott, Rachel Yankey, Russell Howard, Packy Lee, Tamer Hassan and Alex Brooker.
Proceeds from the match – which will feature star-studded A-listers, legends and influencers, and be broadcast around the world – will go to the Birmingham City Foundation and Shelter, highlighting our commitment to the child homelessness cause on a local and national scale.
Meanwhile, Blues' most prominent celebrity supporter, Steven Knight, the acclaimed screenwriter, producer, film director and creator of Peaky Blinders, has agreed to lend his personal support to this important event.
Tickets for the match, priced £30 adults, £20 seniors & young adults and £10 juniors, are now on sale.
Jeremy Dale, Birmingham City chief executive officer said: “This is one of the most important games to have ever taken place at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.
“Child homelessness is a societal issue that is constantly around us. By using the power of football and entertainment we can shine a spotlight on the scale of the issue, while at the same time celebrate the great work that many people are already doing in this area to help improve lives.
“By joining together with Shelter and Legends we can raise more money and help those children who need it most. This is more than a game of football. It’s about changing and improving lives.”
Antony Isherwood, director for Birmingham City Foundation said: “As a charity working across the length and breadth of Birmingham, we see the struggles young people face every day. From going to school hungry or simply not attending, to not having a permanent residence to call home, the challenge in Birmingham is growing, but is not insurmountable.
“With an event of this magnitude happening right here at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park, we have the opportunity to change the lives of young people, and every ticket purchased will help us to do that.”
The money raised by Game4theChildren will also enable Birmingham City Foundation to continue delivering vital support to children and young people in some of the city’s most deprived areas through its high-impact programmes – empowering individuals and building stronger, more resilient communities.
It will support Shelter to provide the advice, support and practical assistance families need to find and keep a safe place to call home, while also campaigning for long lasting change.
