Hippodrome raises record-breaking funds for youth programmes
Birmingham Hippodrome has raised over £50,000 to help make the arts more accessible for young people across the West Midlands.
A record-breaking total of £51,168 has been raised as part of The Big Give Christmas Challenge, the UK’s biggest collaborative match-funding campaign.
Thanks to support from the Hippodrome’s Big Give Champion, The Reed Educational Trust Ltd, the donations made between Tuesday 2 and Tuesday 9 December were doubled, creating even greater impact for young people across the region.
The funds will directly support the Hippodrome’s youth programmes and its ongoing work with over 30 partner schools and colleges, giving 30,000 young people the chance to learn, perform and discover their potential through the arts.
Birmingham Hippodrome is an independent charity, and the donations will help nurture the next generation of artists, audiences and creative leaders.
Through partnerships with local schools and community organisations, the Hippodrome ensures that young people have access to high-quality arts experiences that build skills, confidence and connection.
Judith Greenburgh, head of fundraising and development at Birmingham Hippodrome, said: “We are deeply moved by the generosity shown during this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge - our most successful year to date in this annual fundraiser.
“Every donation - doubled by the incredible support of The Reed Educational Trust Ltd - will have a real and lasting impact on young people across the region.
“These vital funds will help us champion the next generation: delivering artist-led workshops, expanding our Youth Theatres, growing our Young Advocates programme and supporting teachers.
“On behalf of the entire Hippodrome team, thank you for helping us open the door to life-changing creative experiences for local young people.”
