Birmingham-based Intercity has signed a deal to support the mobile connectivity requirements of one of the West Midlands’ largest housing associations.

The managed IT and communications provider is delivering a network-agnostic mobile services solution that will boost connectivity, visibility and day-to-day management of whg’s 300 strong-mobile estate covering 15 lives site any one time.

Designed around local coverage requirements rather than a generic national approach, the new partnership provides different user needs while maintaining a single service, support and management model.

The deal also includes access to Intercity’s mobile services portal, which supports self-service management that gives real time usage insight, simplified administration, help to reduce operational overheads and reliance on outdated manual processes.

Dan Groom, service delivery manager at whg, said: “Reliable mobile connectivity is critical for our teams, particularly those working out in the community.

“When systems behind the scenes don’t work properly, the impact doesn’t stop at our IT team. It reaches frontline colleagues, and ultimately the residents who rely on those services being delivered well.

“This is why we were so impressed with Intercity’s approach. It delivers greater visibility and control over our mobile services, alongside a partnership model that aligns with operational needs that are growing all the time as we strive to give people the right to safe, secure and affordable homes.”

As part of the contract, Intercity has committed to working closely with whg through a structured delivery and optimisation model, with a focus on service continuity, operational resilience, and long‑term effectiveness as operational requirements evolve.

Neil Rampe, telecoms managing director and chief commercial officer at Intercity, said: “This partnership reflects our focus on long‑term, practical delivery rather than short‑term transactions.

“By designing services around how organisations actually operate, we help teams stay connected, supported, and, importantly in control.”

Employing 300 people across offices in Birmingham, Bedford, Bolton and Nuneaton, Intercity has grown into one of the UK’s leading technology partners, more than doubling revenues from £25m to £55m over the last three years.

The company, which is a Microsoft Managed Service Provider (MSP), works with fast growing businesses, multi-nationals and public sector organisations to support their IT, communications, cyber security and, increasingly, AI requirements.

Neil continued: “Every client receives a tailored solution, based on the pain points they are facing and their aspirations for expansion.

“This is a massive differentiator for our business and proving really popular with the property sector, where demand to build is reaching all-time highs.”
