Knowle High Street was full of music, creativity and community spirit as the village marked Record Store Day 2026.

Slow Century Records one of the high streets newest businesses took part in the celebration alongside more than 300 independent record shops across the UK.

Doors opened at 9am for exclusive vinyl releases, with a queue of dedicated music fans marking the start of a day that spread well beyond the shop itself.

John Ellis, owner of Slow Century Records invited businesses from across the village of Knowle to be part of the celebrations.

Live music ran from 11am through to 11pm, with performances hosted at Cristal Boutique, The Ale Rooms, Monica Bakes, Swan Yard Café, Bistro Viola, Loki Wine Bar and The Vaults.

The Ale Rooms also brewed an exclusive Slow Century IPA for the occasion.

At the record shop a live window painting took place by local artist Nigel – known as GrumpleStiltStine – whilst restaurant Bistro Viola opened early with refreshments.

Visit Knowle supported the event by making introductions from Slow Century Records to local businesses so that they could plan a suite of events across the village, and by promoting the day across its social media channels.

Nick Lyons, chair of Visit Knowle, said: "We were delighted to see so many people on the High Street throughout the day - there was such a buzz.

“It was brilliant to see Slow century records making such a positive impact on the village already. We're lucky to have them.

“I'm not surprised so many cafés and shops also got involved - Knowle's sense of community between the businesses is incredibly strong and we are hearing of more and more collaborations all the time.”
