Musicians and concertgoers are celebrating savings on tram travel to concerts as the partnership with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) and West Midlands Metro is renewed for a record-breaking third year.

Since 2023, West Midlands Metro has been recognised as the orchestra’s official travel partner – a relationship that’s seen music enthusiasts and performers enjoy generous discounts on travel to concerts across the city.

Now, increasing savings will be offered to concertgoers and musicians on tram tickets from 10 to 15 per cent in a bid to make joyful performances even more accessible to the communities we serve.

Michael Reading-Skilton, Metro’s head of commercial said: “We’re thrilled to be able to continue our relationship with an orchestra that brings so much joy to so many people.

“The relationship is certainly set to hit another high note with more savings to be made for anyone with a ticket for performances by the main orchestra or its associated choirs and youth ensembles.

“The Metro serves numerous venues across the city, including the impressive Symphony Hall, which is just a minute’s walk from Library tram stop, and by taking the tram into the city, musicians and concert ticket holders can take advantage of our free park and ride facilities to avoid the hassle and cost of finding an expensive parking space.”

The announcement of the additional discounts and the extension of the partnership comes as the orchestra prepares for its CBSO in the City festival in August.

Ahead of the week-long musical celebration, a new tram wrap will be unveiled to celebrate and promote the orchestra’s inspiring performances.

Emma Stenning, chief executive of the CBSO said: "We’re very excited to be extending our partnership with West Midlands Metro for a third consecutive year.

“It’s thrilling to have such a vibrant and distinctive tram that captures the energy of live music.

“More importantly, it supports our efforts to inspire audiences to choose more sustainable ways of traveling to and within the city."
