NHS Birmingham & Solihull 's Integrated Care System has launched a £25.5m Fairer Futures Fund (FFF) - aimed at supporting community, clinical and professionally-led innovation to help transform how health and social care services are planned and delivered.

The fund - £4.2m of which will fund projects over the next three years in Solihull - is designed to support activities that will contribute to improved integrated working that boosts health outcomes and helps tackle health inequalities.

Cllr Karen Grinsell, deputy leader of Solihull Council and Chair of Solihull 's Health and Well-being Board explained: “We 're looking for innovative solutions to local issues - it 's an amazing opportunity to turn an idea into reality, engaging with residents to develop something with and for our most vulnerable communities.

“Applications should support at least one of our three local priorities: integrating services in the community, improving our approach to prevention and better support around mental health - from prevention through to crisis.

“Organisations need to think creatively and collaboratively about how their project can make a real difference to closing the health gap and helping improve physical and mental health and well-being. Ideas could be simple or complex, big or small - but we are looking for innovation.

“I wholeheartedly encourage local groups and organisations to find out more and submit an Expression of Interest. ”

Two Place Committees have been established to allocate these funds, and the Solihull Place Committee (SPC) is now calling on organisations based in the Borough to submit an 'Expression of Interest ', outlining the project they would deliver if they were to receive FFF.

Once Expressions of Interest have been received, the SPC will review them before launching a formal procurement process. Organisations who have submitted Expressions of Interest will then at this point be able to submit formal applications for FFF. More details will be supplied in due course.

It 's important to be clear that the funding is not intended to standardise existing delivery models or plug any funding gaps in existing services.

Funding will support at least one of Solihull's three local priorities: integrating services in the community, improving approaches to prevention and better support around mental health - from prevention through to crisis.

Organisations need to think creatively and collaboratively about how their project can make a real difference to closing the health gap and helping improve physical and mental health and well-being. Ideas could be simple or complex, big or small, but should be innovative.

To submit an Expression of Interest please fill in the form and return to [email protected] by no later than 9 July 2023.
