PwC UK has announced 192 promotions across its Midlands practice, effective from today.

The promotions span all grades and reflect the strength of PwC’s talent pipeline and its continued investment in regional growth.

They include two promotions to partner, two to managing director and nine to director.

Simon Blythin who joined PwC in 2015 has been promoted to partner. He specialises in Private Business tax, working with private equity-backed businesses across the UK on investment, growth and exit strategies.

As a partner, he will lead key client relationships and support private equity portfolio groups to solve complex tax challenges and drive long-term value.

Matthew Greene has also been promoted to partner, having joined PwC as a new graduate almost two decades ago and has spent most of his career based in Birmingham.

As a partner specialising in tax advice, he will lead PwC’s regional Innovation and Capital Incentives team, helping businesses access tax relief on investment in capital assets, supporting sustainable growth, across the region and nationally.

Katie Attenborough joined PwC in 2011 and has been promoted to managing director.

She spent nearly 20 years advising innovative businesses across the Midlands and the UK on tax incentives that reward investment in innovation and intellectual property such as R&D tax relief and Patent Box incentives.

Katie will lead PwC’s engagement with HMRC, industry bodies and colleagues across the firm’s national Innovation and Capital Incentives practice, supporting clients with the UK’s evolving R&D tax relief regime.

Nick Baker has also been promoted to managing director after joining the firm in 2010 and specialises in shareholder and management taxation for privately owned and private equity-owned businesses, advising business owners and stakeholders on complex tax matters.

As a managing director, he will support shareholders in both the Midlands and nationally to navigate tax on transactions.

David Morris, Central Region market leader at PwC UK, said: “I’m pleased to see so many well-deserved promotions across the Midlands. These colleagues represent the strength of our talent pipeline and the important role our Midlands offices play in supporting clients across the region.

“These promotions highlight PwC’s continued investment in building senior leadership capability in the Midlands, supporting clients across areas including private business, tax and large-scale programmes.”
