Solihull Chamber visits HS2 construction site
Solihull Chamber Patrons and members visited the HS2 Construction site to gain first-hand insight into the progress being made on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects.
The guided tour provided an opportunity to observe key stages of construction, learn about the engineering innovations being deployed, and hear from project teams about the challenges and achievements involved in delivering the new high-speed rail network.
The visit highlighted the significant investment being made in transport infrastructure, as well as the project's role in supporting jobs, skills development, the environment and economic growth across the region.
Emma Hewitt, Solihull Chamber President said: “Visiting the HS2 project on the Safari tour was a powerful reminder of the scale of innovation, expertise and investment being delivered through this nationally significant infrastructure programme.
“It was impressive to see the world class design, engineering and manufacturing capabilities that are helping to shape the future of transport in the UK.
“What was equally encouraging was HS2’s commitment to leaving a positive legacy. From inspiring young people through engagement with local schools to protecting wildlife and the environment throughout construction, there is a clear focus on responsible delivery.
“The Solihull Chamber of Commerce welcomes HS2’s commitment to working closely with local businesses and creating opportunities for companies across the region.
“By strengthening connections with the business community, HS2 can help ensure that the benefits of this investment are shared widely, supporting growth, skills and prosperity for years to come.”
Huw Edwards, director of stations and placemaking, said: “It was a pleasure to host Solihull Patrons at the site of the future HS2 Interchange Station.
“The visit underlined the importance of HS2 to the local area in terms of improving connectivity, creating jobs and supporting businesses to grow.
“The Chamber is a key link for us in communicating the benefits of the railway and we are always happy to support them.”
