Solihull’s night-time economy consultation to help shape five-year action plan

Visit Solihull is conducting a Night-Time Economy (NTE) consultation to gather insights from local businesses.

The feedback gathered will be vital in identifying opportunities, challenges and priorities – ensuring that future developments reflect the needs of those who live, work and trade in Solihull after dark.

Feedback from the survey will help to shape a five-year Evening & Night-Time Economy (ENTE) Action Plan for Solihull (2026-2030), which sets out a vision to support this key sector.

The plan aims to elevate Solihull’s nightlife, draw in further investment, and increase footfall to towns and local centres through cultural events and experiences, driving sustainable economic growth.

The plan is aligned with regional and national strategies – including the Solihull Cultural Strategy, VisitEngland priorities, and the Solihull Destination Management Plan – as well as key economic frameworks such as the Small Business Plan and the WMCA Growth Plan.

Set to be published by Solihull Council in March 2026, the plan will address the need for more diverse night-time offerings and improve overnight visitor stays and enhanced business tourism.

It will also prioritise improved night-time safety through better lighting, transport access and coordinated public services; ensuring a welcoming and secure environment for all.

Councillor Wazma Qais (pictured), Solihull Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities outlined the benefits of the plan.

She said: “I am delighted that this consultation is running – our night-time trade plays a vital role within our local economy and wider communities, and it’s critical that we protect and enhance this sector.

“With the proposed Evening & Night-Time Economy Action Plan 2026, we hope to continue to cultivate an appealing night-time experience for residents and visitors, while ensuring that Solihull is a safe nighttime environment for everyone.

“I encourage all local businesses to take part in this consultation and have their say in helping to enhance Solihull’s night-time economy for those who live, work and trade after dark in the borough.”

The consultation is currently running for five weeks and will close on Friday 12 December.
