Touchwood launches gift tree appeal to spread Christmas joy
Touchwood is inviting the local community to help spread festive cheer with its Gift Tree Appeal, a heartwarming initiative designed to help make Christmas magical for children from families who may be struggling financially this year.
The appeal is trying to combat the cost-of-living crisis, which has put a continuous burden on families to cover the basics of heating homes and putting food on the table.
Visitors to Touchwood can select a tag from the beautifully decorated Gift Tree, located outside John Lewis.
Each tag represents a child in need and includes a child’s name, age and a few suggested gifts.
Shoppers then purchase a gift and return it to the Touchwood Information Desk, where organisers will collect and distribute the presents via Solihull Family Hubs, ensuring they reach families who need them most.
Sam Staite, appeal organiser said: “Every year we like to give back to the local community. This year we came up with the idea of a Gift Tree.
“I contacted Touchwood and they were keen to support us, as were John Lewis who kindly donated the tree. We are hoping to reach as many local families as possible who are struggling this Christmas.”
Louise Woodward, marketing & events manager at Touchwood, said: “At Touchwood, we always look for ways to support and celebrate our local communities.
“No child should wake up on Christmas morning without a gift. But the Gift Tree is about more than presents – it’s about showing families that their community cares. Every donation, no matter how small, will help create magical memories for a child this festive season.”
The appeal runs throughout the Christmas period, and every contribution will help create magical memories for local children.
