Carers Trust Solihull is encouraging local businesses, organisations and community groups to help build more carer friendly communities across Solihull.

The messaging forms part of Carers Week 2026, taking place from 8 to 14 June with the theme of ‘Building Carer Friendly Communities’.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the challenges faced by unpaid carers and encourage greater understanding and recognition within workplaces and local communities.

Across the UK, millions of people provide unpaid care for a family member or friend who could not manage without their support due to illness, disability, mental health needs or addiction.

Many carers balance their caring role alongside employment, often without employers or colleagues even realising they are carers.

Throughout the week, Carers Trust Solihull will be hosting activities, awareness events and community sessions designed to support carers and highlight the importance of creating environments where carers feel recognised, valued and included.

Brandon Scott-Omenka, CEO of Carers Trust Solihull, said: “Carers Week shines a light on the vital role unpaid carers play in our society.

“Too often unseen, carers provide invaluable support to loved ones while balancing caregiving, parenting, employment and their own wellbeing.

“This week, we celebrate their dedication, raise awareness of their challenges, and champion greater recognition and support across the whole community.”
