The M6toll marked the final chapter of a national tribute to the late Hairy Biker Dave Myers - with its support for Dave Day 2026: The Last Ride Home.

The poignant final ride saw thousands from the motorcycle community come together once more to celebrate Dave’s life and raise vital funds for charity.

On Saturday 20 June, the M6toll provided free passage for convoy participants travelling as part of the official Dave Day route.

The gesture ensured riders journeyed safely and smoothly through the Midlands as they made their way towards Dave’s hometown of Barrow-in-Furness for the final tribute.

Bikers gathered at the National Motorcycle Museum near the M42 for the third leg of their trip, before heading north.

At the M6toll’s Great Wyrley mainline plaza, dedicated traffic management precautions were in place, with lane 1 coned off to allow bikers to pass safely via the wide load lane, supporting a seamless convoy experience.

To minimise disruption for customers, all remaining lanes at Great Wyrley displayed a green arrow and were temporarily free of charge while the cavalcade passed, allowing customers to breeze through with minimal delay.

Organisers of Dave Day are aiming to raise over £150,000, with proceeds split equally between Childline and a local cause close to Dave’s hometown.

Maxine Bate, communications manager at M6toll, said: "We’re incredibly proud to have supported Dave Day: The Last Ride Home and help riders get to Barrow safely and smoothly.

“It’s a fantastic cause, and we were delighted to provide an alternative reliable route making the journey through the region easier for all involved."

Dave Day lead rider Jason ‘Woody’ Woodcock added: “The support from M6 Toll was incredibly generous and made a real difference to the safety and experience of everyone taking part.

“The final ride was about remembering Dave and others lost to cancer and coming together one last time for something truly special.”
