Meet the Future Faces committee: Tom Randall
Tom Randall highlights his part in the Future Faces mentoring working group and how he helps to support different individuals’ growth by creating meaningful matches.
1. What is your name, job title, and organisation?
Tom Randall, although most people call me Tommy. I’m a Tax Executive in the Private Client team at Bishop Fleming.
2. On the Future Faces committee, which working group are you part of and why?
I am a part of the Mentoring Working Group. I joined this group as it is all about bringing people together.
I love being able to learn about different individuals and support their growth by creating meaningful matches between a mentee and mentors who are best studied to guide them!
3. What does your day-to-day role involve?
My role is split between managing a portfolio of clients and compliance with their personal tax affairs, alongside delivering tailored advice to meet their individual needs.
4. Why did you decide to join the committee?
I love the Future Faces group, it is my favourite networking group to be a part of, and love being part of a team that helps young professionals, therefore, thought it was only fitting!
5. What are you most looking forward to achieving or contributing on the committee?
I would like to help the voices of Young Professionals. I’m looking forward to being able to attend events, meet great individuals, encourage more young professionals to do the same and help grow the young professional network in Brum – I’m really excited to be on the Mentoring Working Group as I’ll be able to do exactly that.
6. What do you see as the biggest opportunity for Future Faces right now?
The fact that Birmingham is shifting from a traditional economy into a knowledge, tech, and innovation-driven hub, which is perfect for young professionals and creates great career growth potential if you can position yourself well.
7. What is your favourite thing about Birmingham
The people – I am not a typical Brummie; however, I have gravitated towards it ever since starting in the professional world, and I love how welcome I have always been made to feel!
8. How long have you been a Future Faces member for?
I have been a member for just over a year, and on the committee since April.
