Solihull students visit Parliament for educational tour
Students from WMG Academy visited London to tour the Houses of Parliament.
The trip was arranged following an invitation from local MP Saqib Bhatti where students took a 75-minute guided tour of both chambers of Parliament.
The students gained valuable insight into the history of British democracy, including key events such as the Gunpowder Plot, alongside learning how Parliament and the House of Lords operate on a daily basis.
Following the tour, Saqib Bhatti hosted a Q&A session, where students engaged in thoughtful discussion on topics including student loans, local regeneration projects, and his motivations for entering politics.
After lunch, the group returned to Birmingham International, with students expressing their appreciation for the opportunity.
Steve Adams, KS4 Pastoral and Behavioural Lead at WMG Academy, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to see democracy in action and to engage directly with their local MP.
Experiences like this bring learning to life and inspire young people to take an active interest in their future.
The visit was widely regarded as a memorable and valuable educational experience for all involved.”
