StartUp Social West Midlands marks record growth at business event
StartUp Social West Midlands, a growing community supporting early-stage businesses, has marked its most successful event to date as part of the 2026 West Midlands Business Festival (WMBF).
Hosted by Becky Benbow, founder of A Burden Shared, which is a member of the Solihull Chamber of Commerce, the event took place at The Jointworks and brought together a record number of entrepreneurs from across the region.
The gathering formed part of the official WMBF programme, highlighting the initiative’s growing influence within the regional business ecosystem.
The event saw its highest-ever attendance, with a diverse mix of first-time participants and returning members.
The continued growth reflects a wider trend across the West Midlands, where new business incorporations are rising, particularly in the technology and social economy sectors.
By creating a supportive platform for pre-startups and businesses in their first three years, StartUp Social is establishing itself as a key hub for emerging talent.
Becky Benbow, founder of A Burden Shared, said: “What we are building here is more than just a networking group; it is a community rooted in connection and collaboration.
Watching people stay on to use the co-working space at The Jointworks long after the event finished highlights exactly what this is about creating a space where founders feel comfortable enough to connect and support one another.”
The West Midlands Business Festival, which ran from 2 to 13 February 2026, continues to act as a catalyst for economic growth and collaboration across the region.
StartUp Social’s inclusion in the official festival programme underscores its increasing importance and relevance to the local business landscape.
The event received strong feedback for prioritising practical insights and lived experience over traditional sales-led networking.
As the community continues to expand, StartUp Social West Midlands is inviting speakers and sponsors who share its commitment to delivering meaningful, experience-led support.
The organisation remains focused on its core values: real people, real conversations, and real support for those building the future of the Midlands.
Looking ahead, StartUp Social West Midlands plans to introduce dedicated co-working days to further strengthen collaboration among local startups.
